Flexibility levels
Yoga expert Sunaina Rekhi says, ‘The fun and challenging about this workout is that you need to communicate with your partner. You can’t just jump right into the exercise and expect balance and flexibility limitations just to work out. You have to talk to one another, and use feedback from both parties in order to make it work. Remember that you should never stretch to the point where you feel any pain. Also, you need not be a master gymnast, a circus acrobat, or a seasoned yogi to enjoy couple yoga. It is no big deal if you can’t do a handstand, or even touch your toes. Just remember to listen to your body and don’t do anything that hurts. Otherwise, have fun, laugh and connect!’
Yoga routine
The expert also says ‘Practising couple yoga in the morning is like a strong cup of coffee without the side-effects’. Most of us are a little stiff and groggy in the morning, and a gentle stretch can get the blood flowing and kick-start your day. Couple yoga in the afternoon or evening can help relieve the tension of the day, calm the mind, and bring you back to balance for a peaceful night of sleep.
